REVIEW: SMASHBOX STUDIO SKIN 15 HOUR WEAR HYDRATING FOUNDATION

REVIEW: SMASHBOX STUDIO SKIN 15 HOUR WEAR HYDRATING FOUNDATION

I’m one of those who sort of gets stuck in a rut with my foundations. I’m all about that full coverage goodness so I always keep reaching back to my MAC studio Fix or Makeup Forever HD foundation because even thou these are full cover foundations, I know exactly how to blend it out to give me that flawless skin like coverage but these are both evening foundations.

I was already on a hunt for a full cover “day” foundation that doesn’t look too cakey in direct sunlight and I’d heard great things about the Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation.  It comes as I would expect – in a nice box, and the product itself is housed in a sturdy glass bottle. The Smashbox 15 Hour Foundation both looks and feels luxe, so you do feel like you’re getting a good product for the money you’re spending. Smashbox makes it easy for you to love them; unlike many other high end foundations, this comes with a pump!

I tried applying this with a brush, a beautyblender and the best method for me is: working it in with a beautyblender.

Why? Well this foundation doesn’t really dry – so it will stay kind of sticky for quite a long time. And if it’s sticky and you’ll keep on blending with a beautyblender your foundation will get patchy and if you then keep on building, your beautyblender will become kind of gross and ‘sticky’.

Studio Skin is a thicker foundation with a gel consistency. Due to the thickness, I would recommend moisturizing the skin really well before applying or using a primer underneath. It also sets pretty quickly on the face, so I would recommend blending it in to separate areas of the face as you apply it.

So all in all – you gotta work fast with this one!

It claims to be a medium coverage foundation but honestly, I think it’s definitely full coverage! It managed to cover almost all of my imperfections (hyperpigmentation, blemishes, etc) in one go!

Since I feel like this is full coverage, this foundation is not good for you if you don’t apply your contour and highlight every day. Without that, your face will look flat (since it basically unifies your face) and you don’t want that.

I found it blurred my pores quite well. It leaves a matte finish but not the drying matte kind of finish. As I have oily skin I do always set my foundation with a powder. Once I had set everything it looked absolutely flawless! I couldn’t believe how well my skin looked and it didn’t feel heavy at all.

The lasting power on this thing is THE BOMB! The first time I used this was when I went out and had it on over 8 hours and I was amazed at how my makeup looked, it still looked like it did when I first applied it.

I highly recommend this baby if you have oily/ combination skin and looking for full cover foundation that looks like skin in daylight too.
