Foundation that lasts 16 hours!

Givenchy Eclat Matissime Fluid Foundation

Givenchy Eclat Matissime is a matte liquid foundation product that the brand launched for Fall 2012.

Although I have dry skin, I was still curious to try this out and I’m very happy I did indulge because it’s quite wonderful.

The formula is a liquid water base which has suspended foundation pigments in the mix. In order to get the best use out of it, it does need to be shaken up a few times so both the liquid and pigments blend well together. It’s formulated with silica beads which absorb excess oil and moisture but still allows skin to breathe through the wear.

Matte finishes are tricky for me. I’m a bit oily in the summer but for the most part I consider myself dry, particularly in the winter. This is like no matte foundation I’ve tried before. It doesn’t have a velvety or powdery dry down so it doesn’t accentuate flaky or dry areas for me. It also has second-skin like technology that melds with skin creating natural yet long lasting results.

I’ve used it through a few cooler days and I’ve used it through some fairly hot ones we’ve had as well and it performs beautifully all around. Wear is solid with no issues of oxidation. The foundation looks fresh even after 16 hours of wear. Although it offers sheer to medium coverage it still manages to enhance my own natural skin tone and creates weightless coverage that barely looks like I have any makeup on at all.

I do however dislike the packaging. It comes in a square bottle and has a depressor for dispensing product. It seems like it always either dispenses too much product or too little.

This is an excellent product for all skin types. Dry and combo types will love how natural it wears whereas oily ones will be very pleased with the light, breathable coverage it provides that soaks up excess oil.
